Every year, organizations across the U.S. look to host ‘Day of Giving’ campaigns to encourage donors to donate on a specific day. Coming up on this day, Gonzaga University recognized the potential to grow alumni donations, but faced the challenge of getting started and making an impact. With this campaign, they also had an interest in communicating with alumni throughout the year in hopes of increasing alumni event attendance.


Gonzaga decided to contact MobileCause to get help with their ‘Gonzaga Day’ day of giving efforts targeted at alumni. Opening up a line of communication to their donors was vital. MobileCause representatives helped to set-up an online form to opt-in for text and email updates. This allowed for Gonzaga to reach out to alumni around ‘Gonzaga Day’ and offer the opportunity to have them sign-up for updates. These messages were periodic and event specific, providing value to the alumni who opted in, keeping them more engaged and increasing their likelihood to donate.


This ‘Day of Giving’ campaign resonated with their alumni. To this day, 800 supporters continue to receive text and email updates about Gonzaga events. They also saw a boost in participation at their fundraising events making the impact of their efforts an even bigger success.
